A new unit to tackle banking fraud in the UK has recently been launched.
The Payment Industry and Police Joint Intelligence Unit is the result of a recent merger of the banking industry's Fraud Intelligence Bureau and the intelligence function of the Dedicated Cheque and Plastic Crime Unit (DCPCU).
The DCPCU is a joint initiative between the UK law enforcement and retail banks to tackle card and cheque crime.
The new unit's 15 strong team includes specialists, as well as officers from the City of London and Metropolitan police forces.

XP Web Services adds:
As you may or may not be aware, online security is on the whole very safe, although there are some elements who are attempting to corrupt this for their own illegal gains.
For online safety please always check that if you are ever to enter your bank details, credit card details or personal details, that the website you are using is valid and for any transaction involving entering your credit card or bank details, then the website in question should advertise they are secure.
The website address should change from http:// to https:// (adding the ' s ') there signifies that they are secure. So please check the url / website page address has this in front of it before entering your details.
Remember if you are not sure then ask. Phone the website in question and ask them who they use as their secure trading company and then perform a simple Google search for that secure trading company.
